About Business Buildhers

Business Buildhers (formerly Business Building Girl Bosses) was started in Christchurch, New Zealand in 2016 by Kylie Richardson as a platform for girl bosses to meet likeminded women. Kylie had moved from Auckland and wanted to connect with boss babes who were on her wavelength but there weren’t any informal, casual meetups that she was craving, so she created her own.

What started as an idea with a girlfriend to go for a wine at a local bar and chat about business with whoever wanted to come along, grew into an online community of nearly 600 awesome women (and counting) who all shared a common desire to find connections with people who just get it; who get their struggles, their passion, their crazy ambition.

After years of deliberation and hesitation, Kylie decided to create some more curated events, and the Girl Boss Chat Series was created in mid 2018. This event came about to satisfy the desire to bring a more structured format to the community, and to show women that girl bosses they admire from a far are just regular women, just like you. You can read more about the event here.

There are lots of exciting things in store for Business Buildhers and this community will continue to grow, support and offer a platform for connection, collaboration and continued learning as we all navigate this girl boss life, together.

About the Founder – Kylie Richardson

A girl boss from way back, Kylie has been on her entrepreneurial journey for 15 years, starting her first official business making and selling handmade jewellery when she was 18 years old. This gal, who grew up in the South West corner of Western Australia, made the move across the ditch in 2006 to start a new life in Auckland, New Zealand. Her first NZ business was started before she had even finished making the move, with an online beading and jewellery supplies business up and running when her feet hit NZ soil.

In 2010 she co-created the Auckland Art and Craft Fair (which later went on to become known as the Auckland Fair before ceasing) and along the way she has created many other small business side hustles to feed her entrepreneurial passion whilst working full time in a variety of jobs over the years.

Fast forward to 2015 and Kylie met the man of her dreams and made the move down to Christchurch after 9 months of long distance dating. She completed her coaching certification in 2016, learnt more and more about online business, and then at the end of 2018, after running her coaching business on the side for a few years, she decided that the time had come to take the leap of faith into being fully self-employed.

She’s all about living her best life (which includes drinking an insatiable amount of coffee), and practicing what she preaches, so if you’re interested in following her journey navigating from side hustle to full time gig you can check her out on Instagram (@kyliejrichardson)
